Once you select your preferred option, a deposit of 50% of the total amount is required to confirm the reservation. It depends from how many persons will be on board and what type of vacation you prefer, here are the main characteristics of each type of the boat:
The prices depends on several factors such as boat type, sailing destination, duration of the vacation and season. Also, it is important that you take into consideration the price of the mandatory extras and compulsory security deposit.
All our boats are part of fleets of professional charter companies, therefore they all are insured. The deposit represents the insurance excess of the boat itself. This covers any accidental damage caused by you or your fellow passengers and aims to ensure that all the contractual obligations are met. (e.g. at the checkout when you return the boat to the marina). It is given to the charter company at the base before embarkation and is returned in whole at the end of the trip after the boat has been inspected and there is no damage. The security deposit covers only the damage done to the boat booked by the customer, any damage done on the ancillaries (outboard engine, dinghy,…) or third parties, will be calculated separately. Security deposit to be paid at the base in cash or by credit card (Visa and Mastercard).
Charter price is usually formed per boat weekly, no matter how many people will be on board (the maximum number of passengers is always limited depending on the size of the yacht). Therefore, the charter price covers the vessel rental, all navigation and safety equipment, dinghy and bed linens and final cleaning. The obligatory payment that needs to be made at embarkation is transit log or charter pack and the residence tax. Outboard engine, gennaker, spinnaker, snorkelling equipment are optional services that are not included in the charter fee and can be arranged at surcharge. The mooring of the first and last night in the port where the boat is moored is usually included.
Unless otherwise specified, the price does not include: fuel, galley, transfer costs, tourist taxes, entrance fees to marine parks, mooring costs (except for the first and last night in the port of departure, which are usually included), the cost of services and optional equipment, as well as the cost of the skipper and hostess service and their food.
There are usually some mandatory additional costs, such as the transit log or final cleaning. Details of these costs can be found on each boat’s page and are listed separately because, in most cases, they are paid separately at check-in, while the rental price of the boat is paid in advance. Also, please note that the boat is delivered at check-in with a full tank of fuel and must be returned at check-out with a full tank of fuel.
Additionally, the price does not include extra services, which must be requested in advance.
The cost of fuel varies depending from the boat chosen and how much the engine is used during your vacation. For sailing boats the cost is from 100 to 200€ per week and for catamarans 200 do 550€, depending from equipment (generator) and the power of the engine.
The price varies according to the size of the boat and the sailing area and can vary on average between 100 and 300€ per day, and buoy is from 40 to 100€. Usually the mooring for the first and last night is included in the port of departure where the boat is located.
You have two payments methods:
Payments are made in three stages:
1) Payment of the first 50% of the boat price to confirm the booking.
2) Payment of the second 50% at least 50 days prior to your departure.
3) Payment of the extras at the base (if they are not to be paid online in advance). If the departure time is within at least 50 days after the booking, the payment is due in full when confirming the reservation.
Embarkation is usually done on Saturdays, in the afternoon, from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. The charter provider usually needs a few hours to prepare the boat for the charter, meaning that the boat needs to be cleaned properly from inside and outside and, if necessary, some small repairs might have to be taken care of. However, if the boat is ready earlier, the embarkation will be done earlier. Check-out is in most cases done Saturday morning till 8:00 – 9:00 am. Some charter companies do the check-out on Friday afternoon, while allowing you to stay onboard overnight until your departure on Saturday morning. However, this information should be confirmed when booking the boat.
Early check in can be confirmed only on embarkation day at the charter base.
We need information about all passangers, and they must be submitted online before the departure date. The deadline to fill out the online crewlist is 5 days before the departure day. Required information are: Full name, Gender, Date of birth, Place of birth, Country of birth, Nationality, Type of document, Document number, Place of residence, Country of residence, Date of entry into Croatia, Entry border crossing…
Please keep in mind that for bareboat charters (without skipper) the sailing licence and the VHF certificate must be always uploaded. NB Valid documentation is exclusive responsibility of every customer.
Each has a maximum number of total berths (which includes berths in all cabins and berths in the central saloon of the boat) and a number of double cabins (double or with bunk beds) in which passengers can sleep. There can also be 1 – 2 single cabins, usually small, with basic furnishings, without bathroom and located in the bow (mostly used by the crew: skipper or hostess). The number of bathrooms is also indicated. The number of bathrooms may not correspond to the number of cabins, therefore a private bathroom is not always provided for each cabin. If there is this particular need, some recent models of sailing boats or catamarans have a bathroom for each double cabin. On some boats the bathroom can only be accessed from the inside of each cabin or, in some cases, the single front cabin can be accessed through one of the double cabins. When the skipper and hostess service is required, it is therefore necessary to keep in mind the number of total beds, the number and arrangement of the cabins and bathrooms in order to assign to them an exclusive cabin and preferably, for greater comfort for all , an exclusive bathroom or at least one of the bathrooms for common use.
The boats are all equipped with a kitchen with refrigerator, sink, gas burners, pots for cooking and dishes for dining. Usually breakfast and lunch are prepared on board, while in the evening many choose to go ashore to dine at the restaurant. A well done galley certainly makes your vacation more enjoyable so it is important to keep in mind some considerations that will make life on board more comfortable. For example, provide for long-life foods (pasta, rice, tuna …), do not overdo it with fresh foods (the on-board refrigerator is not comparable in size and cooling to a refrigerator in a real kitchen, to be provided for about 2 days maximum ), buy spices and condiments (oil, salt, vinegar, sugar), salty snacks, some fruit, some vegetables to be eaten raw (salad, tomatoes …), cold cuts, eggs, lots of water, drinks and everything else you might need for breakfast (milk, coffee, biscuits, etc.). In short, everything you need to cook simple and light meals. Blue Life can assist with provisioning by purchasing items from a pre-arranged shopping list and delivering them directly to the yacht before your trip. Additionally, we can arrange the delivery of fresh, locally-sourced products upon prior request, ensuring you enjoy the best flavors the Adriatic has to offer. If you forget something or you need more of something, it is not a problem, in the stops in the ports during the itinerary it will be possible to find a small supermarket or grocery. Let us know your preferences, and we’ll make sure everything is ready for your journey.
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks on board. During the summer months in Dalmatia, you can expect very warm weather, and you will likely spend most of your day in a bathing suit, sunscreen – and not much else. However, evenings can get cooler or windy, so we recommend bringing some warm layers. While we hope for sunny days throughout your trip, it’s a good idea to pack a light raincoat in case of bad weather.
Sailing holidays often include exploring onshore attractions. If shopping, drinks, dining, and dancing are on your itinerary, this is the perfect time to show off your summer wardrobe. However, keep in mind that space on boats is very limited, so we recommend packing as lightly as possible. Soft bags are strongly recommended, as hard-sided luggage generally doesn’t fit in the boat’s storage compartments. For added convenience, Blue Life offers luggage storage and safekeeping services for an additional fee, so you can enjoy your vacation without worrying about your suitcases.
There are no strict luggage restrictions, but due to the limited storage space on board, we strongly recommend using soft travel bags instead of hard-shell suitcases. Soft bags are easier to store and handle in the compact spaces available on a yacht. To ensure a comfortable and organized experience, we suggest packing light and focusing on essentials. If you have specific questions about what to bring, feel free to contact our team for guidance. Blue Life offers luggage storage and safekeeping services for an additional fee, so you can enjoy your vacation without worrying about your suitcases.
Unless you are on a luxury yacht, space in the bathroom is small but well organized. The sink has the appearance of a common household sink and fresh water from the tanks comes out of the tap. Since the water reserves are subject to consumption until the next refueling in port (unless the boat has a water maker – which is not a mandatory part of the equipment for most boats), it is advisable not to waste the water. The toilet does not have a flush but a pump that can be manual or electric for flushing. In larger boats and catamarans, there is a real shower in the bathroom; in smaller bathrooms the shower is the pull-out sink faucet that can be used to wash from head to toe. The water that accumulates in the shower or on the bathroom floor is drained by activating the bilge pump with a button. Perhaps the most pleasant shower is the one you can take outdoors in the cockpit at the end of the day while watching the sun set on the horizon. When mooring on the quay in the equipped ports and marinas, the water tanks are refilled and it is possible to use the ports’/marinas’ toilets and showers.
For your phone, tablet, PC or other electronic devices (for example hair dryers and electric razors), it is better to choose a boat that is equipped with a generator so that they can be recharged at any time. Alternatively, it is possible to request a boat with an inverter that will allow the appliances to be recharged with the engine running for a few hours a day. Without the generator on board or the inverter, electricity can only be used when moored on the quay inside of a port. Croatia uses standard European 2 point plug and the electricity is 220 V.
Majority of boat providers (charter companies) offer a Wi-Fi service on board as an extra.
Most of the Croatian coast and sea is covered with mobile phone signal, but some places may not have cell phone coverage.
For each boat and owner, the contacts of the staff responsible for check-in and assistance in navigation 24h/day are provided. Should anything serious or unforeseen happen while sailing, do not hesitate to call the emergency contact using the VHF channel and notify the charter company immediately. The assistance after your call will be as quick as possible.
Safety is our top priority at Blue Life. All our yachts are equipped with essential safety features and meet international maritime safety standards. Key measures include:
Your peace of mind and well-being are our priority, so you can relax and enjoy your sailing adventure with confidence.
No prior sailing experience is required to join a trip with Blue Life. Our professional skippers and crew will handle all aspects of sailing, navigation, and safety, ensuring you can relax and enjoy the journey. However, if you or someone in your group is prone to seasickness, we recommend bringing appropriate medication or remedies to ensure a comfortable experience. Our team can also provide tips and advice to help minimize any discomfort during your time on the water. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a complete beginner, we’ll make sure your trip is safe, enjoyable, and memorable.
It depends on a variety of factors: your sailing licence, your sailing experience, your crew, boat type or sailing area, etc. It is a demanding job, so if your goal is to take a proper vacation, you will probably wish to let someone else be the skipper. Remember during the sailing trip, skippers do not just navigate, they are fully responsible for the boat and for passenger’s safety. The skipper onboard is like a captain of the ship: his word is final for the entire duration of the sailing.
Hiring a skipper has a cost that varies according to the boat size, and its type. Usually, prices start from 180€ per day, and this quote does not include the food provisioning during the week. The skipper is usually paid online in advance.
The price for the skipper’s service does not include food, which must be provided by the client. Every skipper requires their own cabin for rest and privacy. During the trip, clients are expected to provide three meals per day for the skipper, usually consisting of two meals on board and €50 for dinner if dining at a restaurant. If meals are not prepared on board, a daily allowance of €80 should be given to the skipper to cover food expenses. The skipper’s role is highly demanding, so cooperation is essential during tasks such as mooring or sailing maneuvers. Open communication and teamwork contribute to a smooth and enjoyable sailing experience.
Apart from the Skipper service, you may want to request the service of the hostess. Typically, the hostess and the client will shop together before departure to ensure the necessary provisions are arranged for the sailing trip. The hostess duties are to clean the common areas and prepare light meals. Please keep in mind that the hostess must be included in your provisioning planning, and must be provided with her own cabin. The hostess services has to be requested in advance and paid extra.
A tip for the crew is not mandatory, but it is common to leave 10-15% of the total charter fee. It depends completely on the level of your satisfaction.
Diving in Adriatic is forbidden without a valid license. You need to be in possession of a valid diver’s card issued by the Croatian Diving Federation. This license can be obtained if you have a valid diver’s brevet that was issued by an international diving association (IDD, UDI, CMAS, MDEA, PADI…).
For legal fishing, a valid fishing license is required as well. The license can be obtained in fishing clubs that are authorized for issuing the licenses to the foreign citizens. For obtaining the license you only need your passport or ID – if you are already a member of a fishing club in your country, take your club card with you because it can decrease the license fee. Please note that fishing is forbidden in national parks – when obtaining the license, you will receive the list of zones that are off limits for fishing, as well as a list of allowed fishing tools.
Don’t forget to bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, anti-mosquito cream, sneakers, or non-slip shoes. To protect children from the sun, it’s best to dress them in a simple white cotton T-shirt. The boat floor can be slippery when wet (unless it is covered with teak), so we recommend rubber sea shoes, which are available in supermarkets during the summer.
Children on board will have lots of fun as little explorers searching for adventures—jumping into the cockpit, competing in diving, learning basic sailing skills, or fishing with a hook and line. Pay attention to the design and functionality of the cockpit and always choose a boat with a sun awning (bimini top). Plan short itineraries that include places with beaches, where kids can enjoy ice cream and have space to run around.
For quieter moments, bring colored pencils, paper, sketchbooks, or playing cards. Additionally, it is possible to request the installation of a safety net for a fee, which will be mounted on the boat’s lifelines to ensure total security for small children.
Moreover, Blue Life offers entertainment and educational packages for children, as well as professional childcare services, available for an additional fee, so you can relax and enjoy your sailing experience.
On most boats it is also possible to bring our small and medium-sized pets on board at an additional cost of approximately 150 – 200€ or double mandatory cleaning fee. It is advisable to report the presence of the animal on board before booking, in order to check the possibility to bring it with you with the charter company and the expected additional cost. It is possible to request for a fee the installation of a safety net that will be mounted on the lifelines of the boat to ensure total safety for your animals.
